Comprehensive Ophthalmologist & Cornea Specialist

Laiyin Ma, M.D., the founder of Envision Eye Group, is a board-certified ophthalmologist, with a specialty in cornea, external disease, and refractive surgery. She is a graduate of the prestigious combined 7-year BA/MD Program through Boston University and Boston University School of Medicine. Subsequently, she completed her ophthalmology residency training at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where she was appointed Chief Resident and inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. She completed her fellowship at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in cornea, external disease, and refractive surgery. 

Dr. Ma’s primary aim is achieving her patients’ goals. She practices comprehensive ophthalmology with a focus on cornea and ocular surface disease. She is skilled in cataract surgery utilizing multifocal and toric intraocular lenses, Femtosecond Laser-Assisted Cataract Surgery (FLACS), full and partial thickness (DSAEK and DMEK) corneal transplantation, various types of anterior segment surgery, and laser refractive surgery (LASIK, PRK, phakic intraocular lenses). 

Dr. Ma is published in multiple peer-reviewed journals and has presented her research at major academic conferences, including the annual meetings of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. She is an active fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. 

Dr. Ma is a Clinical Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai where she is involved in the surgical training and teaching of ophthalmology residents. She has been honored to receive the teaching award every year that she’s taught there. 

In her free time, Dr. Ma enjoys playing tennis and spending time with her 3 daughters. 

Dr. Ma is fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese.
